For its tenth anniversary and third year in downtown Toronto, UWAC partnered with Canadian Tire. The conference theme “Shifting the Momentum” provided a new perspective to delegates, encompassing elements of accounting and strategy. The case which focused on return on invested capital (ROIC) and Canadian Tire’s e-commerce segment, challenged delegates to assess how Canadian Tire should best position itself for future success.

Steve Baker
President, Union Gas
Steve Baker is the president of Union Gas, Spectra Energy’s Ontario-based natural gas storage, transmission and distribution company. Mr. Baker brings a wealth of experience and insight into issues of natural gas supply, capacity and regulation. Prior to his current role which he assumed in January 2012, Mr. Baker served as vice president and treasurer of Spectra Energy Corporation. He has also held varied executive roles within Union Gas over the years including finance, business development, marketing and customer service. Mr. Baker is a chartered professional accountant and a certified management accountant.
Manjit Singh
CFO, Canadian Retail Banking, TD Insurance & North American Credit Cards & Merchant Services
Manjit has spent the last 20 years working in the banking sector both in Canada and internationally. In his current role as CFO for Canadian retail banking, he is responsible for overseeing strategy, driving performance, and executing on key business priorities. Manjit has earned his CA and CFA designations, completed his Executive MBA at the Richard Ivey School of Business, and completed the Executive Risk Management Program at Wharton.
